Meet the Culinary Team Behind Dawn Ranch
April 02, 2026

At Dawn Ranch, every dish and every glass tells a story—of place, of craft, and of the people who bring it all to life. While our culinary program is supported by a talented and dedicated team across the kitchen and dining room, a few key leaders help shape the vision, creativity, and experience you enjoy each time you visit.

Meet the chefs and sommelier guiding the flavor of Dawn Ranch.

Dishes at Dawn Ranch

Juliana Thorpe

Co-Executive Chef

Born in São Paulo to a Brazilian mother and British father, Juliana Thorpe’s culinary journey began in her grandmother’s kitchen—where she first discovered that food is a universal language of love and connection.

After formal training at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, Juliana refined her craft in Michelin-starred kitchens across Europe. She eventually found her home in California’s farm-to-table movement, where her cooking philosophy took root. Her approach celebrates bold, layered flavors while honoring the integrity of each ingredient.

At Dawn Ranch, Juliana brings warmth, creativity, and a deep sense of storytelling to every dish—creating meals that feel both grounded in tradition and refreshingly innovative.

“Cooking is about memory and place. Every dish should tell a story and create a new one for those who taste it.”

Ignacio Zuzulich

Co-Executive Chef

Raised in the wine country of Mendoza, Argentina, Ignacio Zuzulich grew up surrounded by the rhythms of harvest and the traditions of asado. Influenced by his grandfather, a fourth-generation winemaker, he developed an early appreciation for terroir and transformation.

Ignacio’s culinary journey has taken him from the parrillas of Buenos Aires to acclaimed kitchens in Barcelona and San Francisco. His expertise lies in fire and smoke—bringing a primal elegance to his cooking that defines his style.

At Dawn Ranch, Ignacio’s open-flame techniques meet California sophistication, resulting in dishes that are both elemental and refined. Together with Juliana, he has cultivated a kitchen culture rooted in collaboration, sustainability, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

“Fire is the oldest kitchen tool. When you cook with flame, you connect to something ancient and essential.”

Genaro Gallo

Advanced Sommelier

As Advanced Sommelier at Dawn Ranch, Genaro Gallo leads the restaurant’s beverage program with precision, passion, and curiosity. He recently introduced The Sommelier Notebook—a unique wine experience that highlights small-production labels and rare vintages from around the world, thoughtfully paired with our tasting and à la carte menus.

Among the youngest to earn the Advanced Sommelier title from the Court of Master Sommeliers, Genaro is also pursuing his Level 4 Diploma with the Wine & Spirit Education Trust—one of the most respected credentials in the wine world.

Before joining Dawn Ranch, he honed his craft in some of Europe’s most celebrated establishments, including the two-Michelin-starred Mugaritz and Berria Wine Bar, named Spain’s best wine bar during his tenure.

Genaro’s approach is rooted in discovery, craftsmanship, and joy—inviting guests to explore wine in a way that feels both elevated and approachable.
